I'm not sure how many people that come here even read American comic books or know much about them and the creators but the industry lost an amazing contributor recently.
Mike Turner was the creator of comics like Witchblade and Fathom and was responsible for Top Cow's acquisition of the rights to the Tomb Raider franchise in comic format.
Several years ago he was diagnosed with bone cancer in his hip. He had major surgery in which they removed nearly 2 lbs. of bone. I had thought that they got it all because he went right back to work making more comics, covers, working with other companies. Hell... I heard he was even going to be penciling Superman soon.
Then one day he got really sick, had to go to the hospital, and never left. Apparently they hadn't gotten rid of the cancer completely.
He was an amazing guy. Cool as hell and not stuck up and obnoxious like a lot of the industry guys are. I'll miss him and I know the industry will also.
